bleed the Orange & Blue, like the fans do.

The Jets are good, The Giants are good, The Yankees are good, the Ranger and Islanders, are always trying, and if not they bring in good

can view -- pretty rare situation to find.

So what's my take? To be specific, I prefer the Yankees' wedding bouquet celebration to Milwaukee's bowling pin topple. The bouquet thing is subtle in comparison; the toppling pins were a little much for me. I pitched for 15 years of my life, and I know I'd hate it if an opposing team celebrated in that fashion. I think a celebration like that has a home in the NFL (a la the Baltimore Ravens of the past), unfortunately football's hierarchy is so uptight that it cut all of the fun out of scoring.

A week ago I posted that I thought the Jets had no shot of getting Brett Favre. Well a lot has changed in a week, as now the Jets are apparently one of two teams given permission to speak with Favre. The Jets have not yet done so, but they have talked to his agent Bus Cook and seem to be holding out in case the Packers drop their asking price. I agree with this strategy, as I would not give up a first or second round draft pick (which Green Bay is asking for) for a player who may only play for a year or two more. But if Green Bay gets so desperate that they are willing to accept a third round pick, even a conditional one that can become a second rounder if Favre leads the Jets to the playoffs, I would pull the trigger.

Time: 8:07. I'm sitting, Joba Chamberlain has left the game in the third inning. This pleases me. A slight relief from reality comes over me.

Reality: Pedro is pitching. In what has turned into the most disappointed Mets season of my young lifetime, Sheadom turns to Pedro Martinez, the visage of a former titan of baseball, the premier Latin American ambassador for this game, and unable to complete a full Major League season in years.

The title (Patriots, 34 - Giants, 20) is not a prediction. It is the result of the remarkably life-like experience of playing a board/dice game known as Pizza Box Football, published by On the Line Game company out of California. Each year, at this time, the company offers owners of the game special gaming charts which tailor the game experience to the specific strengths and weaknesses of the two teams involved in the Super Bowl and ask that participants report their results on the company Web site ( www.pizzaboxfootball.com).

yet another chapter in what has to be the most storied rivalry in all of major league sports - Sox-Yankees.

It's important to note, however, that until the Sox won their championship in 2004, it wasn't actually much of a rivalry. Baseball writer, Dan Shaugnessy, writing in a book, titled The Rivals - The Boston Red Sox vs. The New York

ve crawled out of his grave and throttled me back to death with him, if I'd opted to follow the Yankees, so by default, I started tracking the Mets. And got to like the most recent reincarnation of this National League team; my first NL experience, really. I found myself, as well, tuning in to Yankee games that put me in a position of rooting for a team (any team) to beat them; an odd sort of mind-set to have when you're watching a baseball game. Not rooting for a team to win, but hoping that one of them will lose.
