ht to the Cubs in Milwaukee (due to hurricane conditions in Houston).  Milwaukee fired manager Ned Yost today with just 12 games remaining.  This is a stunning move--clearly a sign that the front office views this season as a one-time chance at winning a pennant.  Dale Sveum replaces Yost as interim manager for the remainder of the season, and it will be interesting to see how the team responds to the managerial change this late in the year.

Though a righty’s on the hill more often than not, and Ned Yost is standing behind Weeks and saying he won’t platoon the two, he’s also saying that Durham should be in the lineup a few times a week, which boils down to a time-share, whether he calls it that or not. Regardless, Durham should bring veteran leadership to a young clubhouse and should help the Brewers and Weeks in ways that numbers can’t quantify.
