16. Honus Wagner-SS

The man on the most famous baseball card in the history of the world, is the greatest shortstop of all time. Shortstop is the most important defensive position, and Honus had great hands, but was even more impressive with the bat. He ranks in the top 30 in four major categories: batting average, RBI, stolen bases, and hits.

the series was punctuated by three hits from both Ginger Beaumont and futre Hall-of-Fame shortstop Honus Wagner, who had won the second of his eight batting titles with a .355 average during the regular season.  Third baseman Tommy Leach added three RBI to put the 5-4 win on ice, and it looked as if Pittsburgh would claim victory in the first World Series.
