All right, so I've jumped the gun a little (the Mets are 21-17, giving them 38 games played, which means they're shy of the 1/4 season mark), but I haven't been too active on this blog and I'd like to get up to speed.

In the mean time, we made one intelligent move: signing utility man Alex Cora. Cora is an outstanding defensive player at both second base and shortstop, and he's more than adequate at third base as well. He's a very cerebral ballplayer with keen understanding of situational hitting, and he can be a solid singles' hitter to all fields.

If you’re a baseball fan (any team), you know better than to get excited about the results of any single series of games. If you’ve been a Boston Red Sox fan for longer than (say) 10 years, you know better than to get excited about almost anything until (say) mid-September (and even then. . ).
