Well, here we go again... Another crazy hockey season is quickly coming to a close as teams gear up for the madness and excitement of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

So the question is: Who is your favorite Stanley Cup Contender this year?  The Flyers, Penguins and Caps look like strong favorites in the East, with those teams as well as the Bruins already clinching playoff spots.

Meanwhile, the Canucks, Sharks and the Original Six perennial favorite Red Wings dominate the Western Conference .

Of course there's always the chance that some of the "underdogs" like Chicago, Calgary and Buffalo could make a run for the cup as well, with lots of injuries hurting some of the top teams out there.

Speaking of injuries, the Wing's chances are totally up in the air with Osgood out til the end of the season (and who knows how he'll play after months off) - Howard with a recent "undisclosed" upper body injury, and the new kid Joey MacDonald seemingly ready for major league action.

Working at Citifield as i do, puts me in a unique situation. I get to see the pulse of the team, and although i am a hospitality attendant, (merchandiser at Majestic team store) i see the team in a different light, or so i think. I look at these Mets and i think Carlos Delgado was a big loss to them. I was a big advocate for the signing of Manny Ramirez, and his violation of the drug policy makes the Wilpon's a genius for staying away, and Minaya a good GM for not pushing the signing. I think Mr. Minaya has done a fine job of putting a team together. Now that i have a closer look at the demographic of people that come to the games, and the guests that spend good money, the Mets are in need of a superstar that can sit up there with Santana.   Wanna throw it out there, just wondering who everyone has for their Conn Smyth Favs if the Wings take it home.  I got Lidstrom and Ozzie as the deserving but also a little sentimental favorites.  Nick's been his usual overlooked, sturdy, if not spectacular self.  Ozzie has always played better than the numbers, even though they're quite good, and if you really watch the playoff games, he just seems to calm the whole team down.  Big saves just dont look as big when Ozzie makes them.  4 Cups.  3 as the starter.  Great numbers.  I have to give it to him.  Or Ty Conklin......Throwin it out there.

Young > Mediocre

The first order of business for the Isles in this offseason is to attract anybody possible to bring in some scoring. Even as an Isles fan, it was nauseating watching that offense last season. One player with a realistic shot at landing on the Island is centermen Daymond Langkow from the Calgary Flames.  Langkow would give depth to an extremely thin center position and allow Comrie to become that No.2 center he was with the Sen's, and do his toe drag every 2min.

The other player i think the Isles should go after is Kristian Huselius also from the Flames. Huselius would give the isles speed on the wing and his goal scoring ability on the Island would make him look like Gretzky.

If it was Avery's idea to get in to Marc Andre Fleury's face like he did 3 time stanley cup winner and vezina trophy Marty Brodeur's well, hes stopped short.  With the New York Rangers being down 3-0 in the series the last news they wanted was that Avery will be out for the season.  Last night after the 5-3 loss to the Penguins, Avery was sent to the hospital.  Although he was able to walk in on his own he suffered from a ruptured splien and will miss the rest of the playoffs.  This is a guy that told Gary Roberts he best be working in the front office with his two year contract hes to old to play, and a man that called Anson Carter a monkey.  He is a clown but rangers fans will miss his antics.  Stay classy, --nillz
